SUMMARY:Onsite Dental Sedation Office Evaluation and Anesthesia Inspection Preparatory Course / Sedation Coaching
DESCRIPTION:Many state dental boards require onsite inspections for dentist offices that wish to provide sedation and anesthesia services to their patients. Conscious Sedation Consulting is offering an onsite continuing education program for dentist offices to be prepared and to successfully complete a sedation inspection. We will come to your facility and provide a 1-day (8 hours) onsite sedation continuing education program for your office and staff. \nAlready doing sedation? \nAre you an experienced sedation provider? \nHow do we improve our sedation practice in the face of such complexity? \nHow do professionals and experts get better at what they do? How do they get great? \nSomewhere along the way\, we stop improving. \nThere is teaching in a classroom\, there are checklists and there is coaching. \nCoaching offers another level of awareness. \nSedation Coaching helps you build on your strengths and exposes your weaknesses. Just by having an outside voice offer suggestions and critiques brings our practice to a new level of awareness. \nCoaching helps you execute on the fundamentals and brings you back to the basics which often get forgotten when our practice evolves. \nSee your sedation team transform with effective communication and process improvement techniques. \nTypically state dental boards will outline what is expected of you during a sedation office inspection in their regulations or requirements.  Below is a sample of what state dental boards require: \n“The evaluation of an applicant for a permit shall consist of two parts: \n(a) Demonstration of a General Anesthesia. A dental procedure utilizing general anesthesia administered by the applicant must be observed and evaluated. Any anesthesia technique that is routinely employed can be demonstrated. The patient shall be monitored while anesthetized and during recovery from anesthesia in the manner prescribed. \nThe applicant for a permit must demonstrate that he or she has knowledge of the uses of the equipment required and is capable of using that equipment. \n(b) Demonstration of a Conscious Sedation. A dental procedure utilizing conscious sedation administered by the applicant must be observed and evaluated. Any conscious sedation technique that is routinely employed can be demonstrated. The patient shall be monitored while sedated and during recovery from sedation in the manner prescribed. The applicant for a permit must demonstrate that he or she has knowledge of the uses of the equipment required and is capable of using that equipment. \n(c) Simulated Emergencies. Knowledge of and a method of treatment must be physically demonstrated by the dentist and his or her operating team for the following emergencies: \n(1) Airway obstruction \n(2) Bronchospasm \n(3) Emesis and aspiration of foreign material under anesthesia \n(4) Angina pectoris \n(5) Myocardial infarction \n(6) Hypotension \n(7) Hypertension \n(8) Cardiac arrest \n(9) Allergic reaction \n(10) Convulsions \n(11) Hypoglycemia \n(12) Syncope \n(13) Respiratory depression” \nThis program provides CE and prepares participants by didactic instruction\, simulation with hands on training by conducting sedation\, airway management and medical emergency scenarios and drills. \nTopics Covered:\nDental Office Facilities and Sedation Operatory Equipment Requirements \nOxygen Delivery Systems \nRecovery Room Area \nAirway Management Equipment and Supplies \nPatient Monitoring and Diagnostic Equipment \nMedical Emergency Management Equipment and Supplies \nMedical History and Physical Evaluation Records \nAnesthesia and Sedation Records \nPatients Consents and Discharge Instructions \nEmergency Medications and Crash Cart Setup \nSedation Drugs and Methods of Administration \nPatient Monitoring by Sedation Assistant and Staff \nState Dental Board Sedation Regulations and Requirements \nSedation Documentation \nAdverse Event Reporting \nMock Sedation Inspection \nMany of our faculty members are experienced state board sedation/anesthesia evaluators. \nParticipants receive 8 hours of CE credit\, samples of sedation related forms\, \nongoing faculty support and recommendations. \n*The price for this service is $5000 and includes travel and lodging. \nA 50% deposit  of $2500 is required to schedule this program at your office. \nThis onsite dental sedation consult is a great way to prepare staff and yourself to provide safe sedation services to your patients. \nCall us to discuss scheduling at 888-581-4448 or email us

SUMMARY:Onsite Precedex (Dexmedetomidine) Training for the Dental Office
DESCRIPTION:Dexmedetomidine (Precedex)\, the dextro optical isomer of medetomidine\, is a pharmacologically selective α2-agonist with sedative\, anxiolytic\, and analgesic properties. Dexmedetomidine is in the same class as clonidine but differs from clonidine in its eightfold greater affinity for α2– compared with α1-receptors than with clonidine. Dexmedetomidine is currently being administered for procedural sedation and as an anesthetic adjunct. \n\n\n\nWe will come to your office with an experienced anesthesia provider to present and provide training on how to use this medication safely on patients for longer procedures or patients that are difficult to treat with typical sedative agents such as versed and fentanyl. \n\n\n\nIf desired we can send the information on what is needed and prior to arrival and you can schedule a patient and we will provide over the shoulder coaching the use of precedex after training. \n\n\n\nTraining covers the following: \n\n\n\nPatient Selection \n\n\n\nPharmacology / Pharmacokinetics \n\n\n\nManaging Hypo/Hypertension and Bradycardia \n\n\n\nManaging Emergencies \n\n\n\nRecovery and Discharge \n\n\n\nParticipants receive 8 hours of CE credit\, \n\n\n\nOngoing faculty support and recommendations as needed. \n\n\n\n*The price for this service is $5000 and includes travel and lodging. \n\n\n\nA 50% deposit  of $2500 is required to schedule this program at your office. \n\n\n\nThis onsite dental sedation consult is a great way to prepare staff and yourself to provide safe sedation services to your patients. \n\n\n\nCall us to discuss scheduling at 888-581-4448 or email us
